Objectives and learning outcomes of the course unit:
The goal is to gain theoretical knowledge and practical skills from communication in the workplace and beyond. Students will understand the issues of the importance of communication at the managerial work, comprehend the use of communication theories and communications in the company, will be able to apply knowledge from verbal and nonverbal communication, business etiquette for managers, intercultural communication, empathy and assertiveness of manager and will be able to solve issues related to the management of group discussions and work meetings, training and organizing business meetings.
Course contents:
The content of the course is the definition of basic terms with a focus on clarifying the concept of communication, function and types of communication, explanation of selected communication theories, becoming familiar with the meaning of the communication environment of the company, understanding the importance of verbal and nonverbal communication in the managerial work. Integral part of an enterprise operating in an intercultural environment is understanding business etiquette, verbal and nonverbal intercultural communication, empathy and assertiveness of the manager, as well as the nature of the organization and conducting business meetings.
